Position Overview

The Role: As an Academic Program Manager at Phalen Leadership Academies, you will play a pivotal role in the successful implementation of our academic initiatives. Your primary focus will be to assist educators and intervention specialists in delivering effective lessons, managing small group instruction, and ensuring adherence to academic standards. By fostering strong, supportive relationships with teaching staff and school administrators, you will contribute to a culture of excellence that empowers every student to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive academic growth by ensuring a minimum 7% annual increase in proficiency in both English Language Arts and Mathematics on state assessments.
  • Oversee the adherence to the PLA Academic Model, holding staff accountable for its effective execution.
  • Provide guidance to teachers and interventionists in lesson planning and instructional pacing.
  • Ensure compliance with the master schedule among teaching staff and interventionists.
  • Demonstrate effective teaching strategies through modeling of small group and whole class lessons as necessary.
  • Utilize data from weekly and interim assessments to inform targeted small-group instruction.
  • Develop and maintain instructional pacing guides for the school.
  • Monitor teacher adherence to pacing guides to ensure instructional integrity.
  • Facilitate the administration of PLA common formative assessments for all students.
  • Ensure that Live School is actively utilized by all educational staff and administrators.
  • Maintain a positive behavior reinforcement system, ensuring a 3:1 ratio of positive behaviors to demerits.
  • Keep academic program rostering up to date.
  • Provide training and support for academic programs as required.
  • Build and nurture positive relationships with educators, administrators, and staff across partner schools.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A strong commitment to serving students and families in under-resourced communities.
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Valid State Teacher License.
  • High proficiency in grade-level academic standards and curriculum.
  • Experience in utilizing data to inform instructional practices.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management abilities.
  • Support for instructional reviews across the region.
  • Participation in administrative and partnership meetings as required.
  • Contribute to the overall school environment as needed (e.g., hallways, lunchroom, arrivals, departures).
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.
