Job Description

**Job Summary**

The Museum of African American History is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing special projects, programs, and events that promote the museum's mission and vision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Oversight: Provide project oversight and guidance to ensure successful execution of special projects, programs, and events.
  • Logistics and Coordination: Coordinate scheduling, space, materials, catering, and program setup for all special projects; develop and communicate all logistics to participants, including a detailed run-of-show.
  • Curriculum Development: Work with the Manager of Youth and Family Programs to create and revise K-12 curriculums and educational materials/resources.
  • Continuing Education: Work with the Manager of Adult Programs to create and revise various Continuing Education offerings.
  • Activity Oversight: Oversee a variety of activities, including summer educational initiatives, periodic or annual projects, ad-hoc reporting, and provide a layer of assurance for timeliness and quality on all special projects related to Learning and Engagement.
  • Communication and Liaison: Attend conference calls and meetings to take minutes, note action items, and create and manage follow-ups with appropriate parties; act as liaison with all internal and external stakeholders/departments, including officials and teachers from local schools and colleges.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with internal communications with staff as well as communications with others; set deadlines or assignments, prioritize daily tasks and organizational strategies, process paperwork for honoraria, travel reimbursements, and invoices, monitor budget, and maintain project files, emails, and information/data across various systems/platforms.
  • Reporting and Status Updates: Help draft and compile periodic reports, produce internal status reports, and utilize The Wright's project management and communication tools to maintain project plans and monitor progress, tasks, and deadlines.
  • Culture and Collaboration: Contribute to The Wright's workplace culture by working creatively and collaboratively with colleagues in marketing and curatorial.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree preferred; at least two years of experience managing programs highly desirable; past work experience in a museum or similar setting preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities: Must possess a keen eye for important or timely details and connections in a fast-paced work environment; exhibit a high level of organization, responsiveness, accuracy, and attention to detail; must be able to prioritize, anticipate needs, and confidently/proactively address issues/opportunities; ability to work under pressure, and provide quick turnarounds; must exercise good judgment and maintain a confident, professional demeanor and excellent rapport when interacting with all levels of staff and external contacts.
  • Communication and Confidentiality: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; must be able to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Independence and Decision-Making: Ability to work independently with limited supervision and instruction at times; demonstrate sound decision-making skills and resourcefulness.
  • Technical Skills: Strong computer skills with an emphasis on Microsoft Office programs and systems.
