Job Overview

The Patient Services Coordinator serves as the initial point of contact within Exceptional Healthcare Inc. and is tasked with a variety of essential responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate the ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced setting.
  • Greet all patients and visitors warmly and professionally.
  • Ensure confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • Efficiently register patients for Emergency Room, Direct Admissions, and Outpatient Services in compliance with EMTALA.
  • Collect necessary patient demographic information, financial details, consents, and additional documentation.
  • Identify insurance coverage, verify benefits, and manage Admission Notifications and Authorizations.
  • Provide explanations of benefits and collect ER copayments, deductibles, and self-pay amounts upfront.
  • Process payments and maintain regular communication with the Central Billing Office to rectify discrepancies.
  • Assist clinical staff with patient status updates as required.
  • Maintain patient records, including creating files, scanning documents into the EMR, and ensuring chart completeness.
  • Handle incoming phone calls by answering, screening, and directing appropriately.
  • Facilitate cash deposits and reconciliations during shift transitions.
  • Accurately maintain spreadsheets and patient logs.
  • Perform clerical tasks such as mail delivery, faxing, copying, and scanning.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience in Emergency Room or Patient Registration.
  • Familiarity with insurance identification and terminology is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of insurance verification and benefit descriptions is preferred.
  • Understanding of Admission Notifications and Insurance Authorizations.
  • Basic knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Strong organizational skills are essential.
  • Proficient in computer operations.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Current background clearance and satisfactory background check results are required.
  • High School Diploma or GED is necessary.
  • Commitment to enhancing patient and family satisfaction.

Work Schedule:

  • PRN, including weekends, day and night shifts.
  • Day shifts from 10 AM to 10 PM, with weekend and holiday availability required.
