Position Summary:
This role entails executing specialized paraprofessional tasks within the Circulation Services division of the Library. The incumbent will oversee assigned Library Assistants and volunteers, exemplifying exceptional customer service while collaborating with other staff to support Library operations. This position is responsible for providing leadership and direction to Circulation Services personnel through supervision, training, performance assessments, and team meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, supervise, mentor, and assess the performance of assigned staff
- Establish and manage patron accounts
- Handle the checking in, checking out, and shelving of materials in a high-traffic environment
- Utilize automated circulation systems to manage library materials, including processing holds and resolving fines
- Oversee the processing of book donations
- Manage overdue materials retrieval and serve as the primary contact for customer inquiries
- Assist in departmental operations, including opening and closing the Circulation Desk
- Promote the Library and issue library cards at community outreach events
- Interpret and ensure adherence to Library policies and procedures, communicating effectively with staff and patrons
- Address circulation-related queries and resolve issues for staff and Library users
- Facilitate communication between staff and supervisors
- Oversee operations in the absence of the supervisor
- Contribute to the planning, execution, and assessment of Circulation Services
- Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance of circulation equipment
- Conduct audits of shelving for proper order and display
- Manage email correspondence for the Library
- Assist patrons with equipment usage, including self-checkout systems
- Provide general information about Library services and direct patrons to appropriate staff as needed
- Carry out additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with three (3) years of library experience or a combination of education, experience, and training that equips the candidate with the necessary knowledge and skills for the role.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Work primarily takes place in a library setting, with some activities in community environments.
- Must be able to lift and transport materials, including book carts and bins weighing up to 35 pounds.
- Physical tasks may include prolonged standing, walking, reaching, bending, and stretching.
- Proficient operation of standard office equipment is required, including computers and cash registers.
