Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Library Services Coordinator. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise a team of Library Assistants and volunteers, providing guidance and support to ensure the smooth operation of Circulation Services.
  • Develop and implement procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Circulation Services, including the use of automated circulation systems.
  • Provide excellent customer service, responding to queries and resolving circulation problems and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to achieve departmental goals and objectives, and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
  • Perform supervisory duties, including training, performance evaluation, and staff meetings.
  • Oversee the processing of book donations, and perform activities involved in the retrieval of overdue materials.
  • Represent the Library at outreach functions, promoting the Library's services and issuing cards as needed.
  • Interpret and implement Library policies and procedures, communicating information to staff and customers as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including basic circulation equipment troubleshooting and maintenance, and auditing shelves for proper order and display.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of library experience, or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Knowledge of library services, systems, procedures, and ethics.
  • Ability to learn and use integrated library software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to interpret Library procedures.
  • Ability to train new employees about Library procedures.
  • Ability to receive payments and operate a cash register.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, volunteers, and Library customers.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and deadlines. The successful candidate will be able to lift, carry, and/or push materials, including full book carts, book bins, and lifting tubs weighing up to 35 pounds. The position also requires the ability to perform physically demanding duties involving repetitive standing, walking, reaching, bending, and stretching for long periods of time.
