Job Overview

The Patient Services Coordinator serves as the initial point of interaction within Exceptional Healthcare Inc. and is tasked with the following responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all patients and staff are treated with respect and dignity.
  • Foster open communication across departments to promote a collaborative environment.
  • Engage professionally and effectively with patients, visitors, and vendors.
  • Exhibit professionalism and composure in a high-pressure setting.
  • Greet all patients and visitors warmly and courteously.
  • Uphold confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • Efficiently register patients for Emergency Room, Direct Admissions, and Outpatient Services in line with EMTALA standards.
  • Collect essential patient demographics, financial details, consents, and additional documentation.
  • Identify insurance plans, verify benefits, and manage Admission Notifications and Authorizations for both admissions and outpatient services.
  • Provide explanations of benefits and collect upfront payments for ER copayments, deductibles, and self-pay amounts.
  • Process payments and maintain regular communication with the Central Billing Office to rectify discrepancies.
  • Implement patient status changes as directed by clinical staff.
  • Maintain patient records, including creating files, scanning documents into the EMR, auditing for completeness, filing, and occasionally shredding documents.
  • Answer, screen, and direct incoming phone inquiries.
  • Facilitate cash deposits and reconciliations during shift transitions.
  • Accurately maintain spreadsheets and patient logs.
  • Perform clerical tasks such as mail delivery, faxing, copying, and scanning.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience in Emergency Room (ER) or Patient Registration.
  • Familiarity with insurance identification and terminology is preferred.
  • Knowledge of insurance verification and benefit descriptions is preferred.
  • Understanding of Admission Notifications and Insurance Authorizations.
  • Proficient in Medical Terminology.
  • Strong organizational skills are essential.
  • Proficient computer skills are required.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities are necessary.
  • Current background clearance and satisfactory background check results are mandatory.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Commitment to ensuring patient and family satisfaction is crucial.

Work Schedule:

  • PRN, including weekends, day and night shifts.
  • Day shifts from 10 AM to 10 PM, with weekend and holiday availability required.
