Role Summary
This entry-level Surgical Technician role involves working under the guidance of the surgical team within the Operating Room, providing essential support throughout the surgical process. Responsibilities include assisting the surgeon by ensuring the availability of necessary instruments and maintaining an organized surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Maintain a professional demeanor while functioning as a Surgical Technologist during various surgical procedures.
  2. Adhere to strict aseptic techniques during setup, patient draping, and throughout surgical operations.
  3. Participate actively in surgeries by organizing instruments and assisting with surgical counts.
  4. Prepare and select appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical cases.
  5. Assist the surgical team with related tasks as directed by the surgeon.
  6. Conduct all necessary counts with the circulating nurse in accordance with Operating Room protocols.
  7. Manage intraoperative medications following established policies.
  8. Handle surgical specimens in accordance with physician orders and hospital regulations.
  9. Follow procedures for the decontamination of instruments and equipment.
  10. Assist in the positioning and transportation of patients as required.
  11. Report any equipment or supply issues to the appropriate personnel.
  12. Engage in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience as a surgical technologist or completion of a surgical technology training program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
