POSITION SUMMARY

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Compliance Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring adherence to EHS regulations at our operational facilities. This position focuses on safeguarding the health and safety of our workforce and the surrounding environment through diligent monitoring and evaluation of safety conditions. You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining EHS programs, policies, and procedures that align with regulatory standards. The ultimate goal is to foster a workplace culture that prioritizes safety and well-being, utilizing innovative strategies to mitigate risks and enhance operational safety.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

EHS Compliance Duties (80%):

  • Develop and uphold EHS policies and procedures that comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Act as a safety champion, identifying opportunities for program enhancements and promoting safety awareness among employees.
  • Provide expert guidance on EHS compliance, risk management, and hazardous materials handling.
  • Oversee the management of hazardous materials and waste, ensuring proper documentation and reporting.
  • Conduct regular audits to identify environmental and workplace hazards and assist in inspections.
  • Manage the incident reporting process and participate in investigations to prevent future occurrences.
  • Coordinate training sessions related to Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health.
  • Maintain accurate safety and environmental documentation and reports.
  • Assist in modifying workspaces to meet established safety standards.
  • Request necessary safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Administrative Responsibilities (20%):
  • Manage incoming shipments and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Create shipping labels and organize logistics for product distribution.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment while upholding ethical standards.
  • Oversee office maintenance, including supplies and cleanliness.
  • Coordinate vehicle maintenance and registration for company assets.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external service providers.
  • Prepare workstations for new employees and manage office supply procurement.
  • Organize team events and maintain compliance with workplace regulations.
  • Conduct miscellaneous research and administrative tasks as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in EHS or a related discipline, preferably in the chemical sector.
  • Strong understanding of EHS principles, regulations, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations.
  • Experience in emergency preparedness and crisis management.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement safety and environmental procedures.
  • Knowledge of hazardous substance control and incident investigation.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS reporting tools.
  • Certification in OSHA HAZWOPER and CPR/First Aid is a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various physical environments.

The compensation for this role is competitive and commensurate with experience, including an annual bonus and stock options.
