POSITION SUMMARY

The role entails overseeing Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) compliance at our facility. As an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to uphold the health and safety standards of the workforce and the environment by assessing and monitoring safety conditions; ensuring adherence to relevant policies and regulatory standards; and managing the EHS programs, policies, and procedures at the site. The key goal is to foster a zero-harm, injury-free workplace through methodologies, initiatives, and strategies that enhance safe operations, promote safety awareness, provide training, and drive continuous improvement to eliminate unsafe practices, conditions, and hazards. The EHS Specialist collaborates with various teams both internally and externally to support the strategic vision of a safe and healthy workplace. Additionally, you will take on administrative duties to facilitate daily office operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Environmental Health & Safety Specialist Duties (80%):

  • Develop and maintain EHS policies, programs, and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations and corporate standards.
  • Act as a safety champion, actively seeking opportunities to enhance safety programs and encouraging employee participation in safety initiatives.
  • Provide expert guidance in complex areas of EHS compliance, risk management, hazardous materials, industrial hygiene, and ergonomics.
  • Oversee the management of hazardous materials and waste, including profiling waste streams and maintaining necessary documentation.
  • Conduct regular audits to identify potential environmental and workplace hazards and address program deficiencies.
  • Manage the reporting process for accidents and incidents.
  • Engage in incident investigations to determine root causes and implement corrective measures to prevent future occurrences.
  • Coordinate all training related to Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health.
  • Maintain comprehensive safety and environmental reports and records.
  • Assist in modifying manufacturing and office areas to meet established safety standards.
Office Administrator Duties (20%):
  • Manage incoming shipments, including tracking orders and resolving discrepancies.
  • Create shipping labels and arrange pickups for various shipments.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment while upholding ethical standards and inclusivity.
  • Oversee the maintenance of office supplies and communal areas.
  • Coordinate vehicle maintenance and registration for company vehicles.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external vendors.
  • Prepare workstations for new employees.
  • Manage office supply inventory and orders.
  • Organize team lunches and employee events.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace regulations and maintain necessary workplace postings.
  • Perform miscellaneous research and administrative tasks as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in EHS or a related field, preferably in the Chemical Industry.
  • Strong understanding of EHS principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Familiarity with EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations.
  • Knowledge of emergency preparedness and crisis management.
  • Proven ability to develop and update safety and environmental procedures.
  • Experience with Hazard Assessments and pre-job inspections.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS reporting software.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs and work in various physical conditions.
COMPENSATION:

The compensation package for this role is competitive and commensurate with experience, including an annual bonus and pre-IPO incentive stock options.
