Procurement Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Procurement Specialist is tasked with the crucial role of identifying, assessing, and selecting vendors to supply the essential raw materials, components, or products necessary for operational success. This role encompasses the procurement of all essential materials and maintenance supplies, alongside responsibilities in customer service, and overseeing shipping and receiving processes, as well as material planning.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures timely sourcing of appropriate materials that meet quality and cost specifications.
- Maintains strong relationships with suppliers, manages contracts, and resolves any issues related to delivery, quality, or pricing.
- Confirms all orders for acceptance.
- Procures materials to align with production schedules.
- Acquires machine components and maintenance supplies.
- Updates and maintains vendor lists and performance ratings.
- Addresses customer service inquiries and complaints.
- Generates on-time delivery and inventory reports for month-end assessments.
- Oversees all aspects of material planning and shipping & receiving, including shipping lists, returns, and coordination with personnel and truck drivers.
- Employs six-sigma quality tools as appropriate to define, measure, analyze, improve, and control processes and outcomes.
- Responsible for maintaining and supporting processes, procedures, and key performance indicators relevant to the role.
ITAR REQUIREMENTS:
To comply with U.S. export control regulations, applicants must be eligible for any necessary authorizations from the U.S. Government.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Proficient in basic office skills.
- Excellent communication abilities.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business or Supply Chain.
- 1-5 years of experience in procurement or sourcing.
- Proficient in computer applications, primarily Microsoft Excel, Word, and other relevant software.
- Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks under pressure while prioritizing effectively.
- This position requires exposure to manufacturing areas where personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe shoes, is mandatory.
- Typical ambient temperatures and standard plant lighting are present throughout the facility.
- Ability to sit or stand as needed.
- Walking primarily on level surfaces for extended periods.
- Reaching above shoulder height, below the waist, or lifting as necessary to access documents or store materials.
- Proper lifting techniques are essential.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces while adhering to safety protocols.
- Capable of fulfilling the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
