Job Summary

Go METRO is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager of Employee and Labor Relations to lead the day-to-day functions of the Employee and Labor Relations Department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in human resources, employee relations, and labor law, with a proven track record of managing complex employment-related investigations, responding to employee issues, and facilitating the grievance process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigations and Compliance
    • Lead and conduct thorough, fair, and objective investigations into employee complaints, including those related to Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FLSA, and FMLA.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations.
  • Employee Relations
    • Respond to and resolve employee-related issues in a timely and effective manner.
    • Actively promote positive relationships between Go METRO and its employees and recognized labor representatives.
  • Training and Development
    • Develop and deliver training programs to promote organizational effectiveness and risk mitigation.
    • Coach and counsel management staff on the administration of the collective bargaining agreement and related documents.
  • Policy Development and Implementation
    • Assist in the creation of policies and procedures related to employee and labor relations.
    • Ensure that all policies and procedures are up-to-date and compliant with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Actively participate in and lead departmental and organizational teams, projects, and committees.
    • Provide regular updates and reports to management on employee and labor relations matters.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Employee Relations, Labor Relations, or a related field.
    • Advanced degree (Masters, JD) in Human Resource Management, Employee Relations, or Labor Relations preferred.
  • Experience
    • Seven (7) years of experience in employee and/or labor relations, including responding to employee issues and grievances.
    • Five (5) years of experience in conducting effective informational and interrogatory interviews.
    • Experience managing/supervising employees, preferably in a union environment.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Thorough understanding of employment and labor law, with a preference for Ohio public sector experience.
    • Proficient in the MS Office suite, including Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
    • Ability to learn new computer programs and software applications.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Managerial courage and ability to effectively communicate with employees and management.
