Senior Employee Relations Manager

Position Overview:
Go METRO is on the lookout for a Senior Manager of Employee and Labor Relations to oversee the daily operations of the Employee and Labor Relations Department.
The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Human Resources, Employee Relations, or a related discipline, along with a proven track record in addressing employee concerns, managing labor relations, facilitating grievance procedures, and conducting thorough investigations. Experience in a unionized setting is preferred but not mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct and document comprehensive, impartial investigations related to employment issues, including but not limited to employee grievances, Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FLSA, and FMLA.
2. Address and resolve employee-related concerns, escalating issues as necessary.
3. Foster positive relationships between Go METRO and its workforce, as well as recognized labor representatives.
4. Provide coaching and guidance to management regarding the collective bargaining agreement and associated documentation.
5. Develop and deliver training sessions focused on labor and employee management to enhance organizational effectiveness and mitigate risks.
6. Assist in the formulation of policies and procedures.
7. Actively participate in departmental and organizational teams, projects, and committees as needed.
8. Aid in the preparation and management of employee and labor-related agreements.
9. Stay informed on the latest employment and labor laws, regulations, trends, and best practices, ensuring necessary updates are implemented.
10. Maintain meticulous records while ensuring confidentiality when appropriate.
11. Resolve employment-related conflicts while upholding organizational values.
12. Collaborate with leadership to proactively identify and address potential employee and labor relations challenges and develop preventative strategies.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Employee Relations, Labor Relations, or a related field is required.
2. Advanced degree (Master's, JD) in Human Resource Management, Employee Relations, or Labor Relations is preferred.
3. A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in employee and/or labor relations, including handling employee issues and grievances.
4. At least five (5) years of experience in conducting effective informational and interrogatory interviews.
5. Experience in managing or supervising employees, ideally in a unionized environment.
Skills and Abilities:
1. In-depth knowledge of Employment and Labor Law (Ohio public sector preferred).
2. Proficient in the MS Office suite, including Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint; familiarity with GroupWise email and inventory management systems is a plus.
3. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with various stakeholders.
4. Exceptional organizational, analytical, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively participate in teams.
