Job Title: Sous Chef

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team at The Omni Homestead. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for assisting the Executive Chef in the preparation and presentation of our menu items, ensuring the highest standards of quality and consistency.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of menus, including menu engineering and cost control.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff, including cooking, plating, and presentation.
  • Ensure that all food products are stored, handled, and prepared in a safe and sanitary manner.
  • Monitor and control food costs, including inventory management and waste reduction.
  • Develop and implement new recipes and menu items, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality and presentation.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop and implement kitchen policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and cleaned, and that all safety protocols are followed.
  • Assist in the training and development of kitchen staff, including new hire orientation and ongoing training and coaching.
  • Monitor and control labor costs, including scheduling and time management.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve kitchen efficiency and productivity.
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of experience as a Sous Chef or equivalent position in a high-volume kitchen.
  • Proven track record of success in menu planning, food cost control, and kitchen operations.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire kitchen staff.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation protocols, with the ability to ensure compliance in the kitchen.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and work in a hot and fast-paced environment.
