Position: Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer I plays a crucial role in facilitating the effective planning, design, and streamlined production of the organization’s equipment and manufacturing methodologies, adhering to LEAN manufacturing principles. The ideal candidate will collaborate with various departments, including Engineering, Manufacturing, Checkout, and Service, as well as Suppliers, to devise cost-efficient solutions for design and manufacturing challenges, ensuring that these solutions are executed safely and effectively while minimizing waste in all forms.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Capable of organizing and leading teams for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Designs efficient internal Kanban systems to guarantee material availability on a single-piece flow basis.
  • Supports manufacturing operations by creating, testing, and implementing production fixtures, processes, and systems aimed at fostering ongoing improvement.
  • Benchmarks current processes using value stream mapping techniques to uncover opportunities for enhancement.
  • Responsible for implementing 5S methodology across all manufacturing cells.
  • Identifies potential areas for design or process enhancements and actively participates in their planning and execution.
  • Proactively seeks innovative ways to reduce costs associated with materials, components, and labor in the assembly of furnace systems.
  • Documents all manufacturing processes and procedures through written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintains production metric boards and wheels to ensure efficient communication.
  • Assists the production team with inquiries or troubleshooting fabrication challenges.
  • Enhances professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing industry publications, and engaging with professional networks.
  • Contributes to equipment analysis concerning potential risk factors.
  • Participates in various business aspects as requested to ensure that strategic and tactical goals are achieved.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering-related discipline is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in LEAN manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in Solidworks and AutoCAD is essential.
