Senior Business Development Officer - Equipment Finance

Remote - To be based in Texas or Oklahoma

Salary Range: $100,000+ annually

At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare, well-being benefits, paid family leave as well as generous paid time off. Total Rewards also include banking perks, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K plan with company match and may include the opportunity to participate in our Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation plan. Position Overview

The primary objective of this role is to proactively develop and sustain a lucrative portfolio of clients. This position will also entail the formulation and oversight of vendor programs and end-user relationships across the nation in sectors such as fabrication, HVAC, machine tools, packaging, plastics, woodworking, as well as crane, OO/OTR, recycling, road paving, truck, trailer, waste collection, and yellow iron industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively cultivate new business opportunities and forge enduring partnerships with manufacturers, distributors, and dealers to provide financing solutions that enhance customer satisfaction and encourage repeat business.
  • Identify and secure vendor lease programs on a national scale.
  • Drive company revenue by consistently meeting and surpassing sales targets.
  • Generate leads through various channels including phone outreach, networking, and in-person meetings.
  • Support vendor trade shows, sales meetings, joint client engagements, and marketing initiatives.
  • Maintain effective territory management, sales activities, new business pipeline, and profitability.
  • Conduct all interactions, communications, negotiations, and correspondence with business applicants, vendor sales representatives, internal sales support, and credit teams.
  • Manage key account leads generated from marketing campaigns.
  • Provide ongoing client service, ensuring accurate completion of customer correspondence and quotation requests.
  • The role necessitates occasional travel for training and team meetings, as well as periodic travel to various locations as required.
  • May require work in a Midland office to facilitate collaboration and support for internal and external customers.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of business-to-business sales experience within the equipment finance sector.
  • Proven track record in relationship-building sales.
  • Successful history of converting cold calls and warm leads into sales.
  • Established network and existing client base in equipment finance is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in business calculation tools such as HP 12C and/or 17B.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and financial pricing software, such as Info-analysis, Super Trump, and T-Value.
  • Excellent relationship management, networking, and sales capabilities.
  • Strong negotiation skills and pricing profitability expertise.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings, vendor interactions, and trade shows.
