Recent initiatives include a major expansion of its primary distribution center and the ongoing implementation of enterprise-level ERP, WMS, and OMS systems.

Position Overview

The organization is in search of an experienced Director of Technology Operations to report directly to the CTO. This role will be pivotal in guiding the evolution of the hybrid cloud infrastructure. The selected candidate will be responsible for establishing a unified vision and strategic direction to integrate eight distinct business units into a cohesive architecture. Key areas of responsibility will encompass infrastructure, networking, identity management, security, and help desk operations. The immediate focus will be on enhancing networking and identity management capabilities. This position offers the chance to lead a transformative infrastructure initiative, cultivate a skilled team, and contribute significantly to building a secure, efficient, and scalable technology framework for a dynamic eCommerce environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with executive leadership and business unit heads on strategic technical operational initiatives that align with the organization's three-year business strategy.
  • Drive digital transformation efforts, transitioning from monolithic systems to cutting-edge platforms.
  • Mentor and nurture team members, providing support for their professional development while fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Design, implement, and oversee the hybrid cloud environment, ensuring seamless integration between on-premises and cloud-based systems.
  • Manage network infrastructure with strong expertise in Cisco technologies (firewalls, switches, wireless) in distributed settings, including advanced routing.
  • Exhibit deep proficiency in core infrastructure services (compute, networking, storage, etc.), architecture, and optimization.
  • Administer MS 365 and Google Workspace environments.
  • Manage Active Directory in hybrid, cloud, or on-premise configurations.
  • Oversee identity management utilizing Azure with SSO capabilities.
  • Supervise daily operations of the technology infrastructure, providing guidance and escalation support to the team.
  • Drive budgeting, vendor management, and the development of the infrastructure roadmap to support business objectives.
  • Plan and execute cloud migration projects, ensuring secure and efficient transitions of data and workloads.
  • Evaluate and recommend new cloud services and emerging technologies, aligning them with organizational needs.
  • Conduct assessments of infrastructure to identify optimization opportunities and areas for enhancement.
  • Collaborate with the CTO and security operations partners to ensure that infrastructure designs adhere to security principles and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

  • Preferred bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related discipline; master's degree is a plus.
  • 7+ years of experience in a senior technology operations role, with a proven track record of managing and leading development teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft cloud architecture and strategy.
  • CISCO certifications are highly recommended; experience with Juniper networks is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Entra ID and Intune.
  • In-depth knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions, particularly Veeam and Azure Backup.
  • Significant experience with VMware vSphere and VMware VSAN virtualization technologies.
  • Understanding of storage solutions, including Dell PowerVault ME5 Arrays and AWS QNAP.
  • Expertise in VPN technologies, particularly PFSense and OpenVPN for secure remote access.
  • Demonstrated experience in hybrid cloud environments, networking, and identity management.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
