Additionally, it has expanded through strategic acquisitions, achieving revenues exceeding $325 million.

In partnership with a leading private equity firm over the past four years, Atlantic Partners Corporation has invested significantly in enhancing its operations, facilities, technology, and leadership. Recent initiatives include a major expansion of its primary distribution center and the implementation of comprehensive ERP, WMS, and OMS systems alongside upgraded web front-end solutions.

The company is now looking to bolster its technical leadership by appointing a Director of Software Development, who will report directly to the CTO as the business continues to grow organically and through an ambitious acquisition strategy.

Position Overview:

The organization seeks a seasoned and innovative Director of Software Development to lead and elevate this essential IT function, which is crucial for their eCommerce operations. This position demands a strong leader with a solid technical foundation capable of engaging and influencing team members, along with a proven track record in team management and leadership. The selected candidate will be instrumental in shaping the vision and strategic direction, as well as overseeing the integration of eight distinct businesses and multiple online stores into a unified technology framework. This role will also manage significant transformation projects aimed at eliminating technical debt and transitioning from monolithic systems to a state-of-the-art technology stack.

A successful candidate will exhibit exceptional organizational skills, a results-oriented mindset, resilience under pressure, and the ability to drive outcomes through independent action and influence across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with executive leadership and business heads on strategic technical initiatives that align with the three-year business plan.
  • Lead digital transformation efforts, transitioning from monolithic platforms to modern systems.
  • Design and implement a strategic roadmap for migrating to new technology stacks, including the shift from Perl to Oracle NetSuite and Adobe Commerce.
  • Establish a Center of Excellence (COE) and a centralized software development team comprising 8-10 developers, supplemented by an outsourced QA function.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop team members, providing guidance and support for their professional advancement while fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
  • Ensure the sustainability, maintenance, and enhancement of systems supporting eCommerce web stores and warehouse fulfillment operations.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to guarantee successful implementation.
  • Evaluate, refine, and implement best practices for software development processes, methodologies, testing, and deployment.
  • Monitor development team progress through metrics and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Manager to communicate project status, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders.
  • Engage with third-party vendors and partners to ensure successful project delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred.
  • Over 10 years of experience in a senior software development role, with a proven history of managing and leading development teams.
  • Extensive experience with eCommerce platforms, particularly Oracle NetSuite and Adobe Commerce or similar ERP and eCommerce technologies.
  • Experience in custom code development; familiarity with Perl or Adobe is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Outstanding leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and strategic thinking.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
