Position Summary
As a Deputy Court Clerk specializing in Criminal Support, you will perform essential clerical and support functions within the court system. Your work will adhere to established guidelines set forth by Idaho Code, requiring a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Training will be provided in court case management systems and customer service support. Responsibilities include processing confidential documents, managing new and consecutive filings, scheduling hearings, and providing phone support to assist the public and legal community with inquiries.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage workflows associated with the criminal court process;
  • Ensure the proper flow of documents from electronic filing to judges and back;
  • Research records and comprehend various legal documents;
  • Create legal forms, letters, reports, and related materials;
  • Sort, stamp, record, and file a variety of legal and judicial documents;
  • Maintain files and records accurately;
  • Process all types of cases and documents presented to the court;
  • Review incoming mail and assemble files for responses;
  • Explain policies and procedures to the public and legal officials;
  • Update databases and review documents for compliance;
  • Respond to correspondence and manage specific legal databases;
  • Schedule hearings and maintain calendars;
  • Process incoming Hearing Notices;
  • Assist in refining court procedures;
  • Collaborate with external agencies to resolve issues;
  • Participate in training and assist in troubleshooting;
  • Perform specialized tasks related to sensitive court processes;
  • Answer public inquiries via phone;
  • Operate office equipment efficiently.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Collect filing fees and fines;
  • Cross-train in other areas to provide coverage as needed;
  • Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Knowledge of legal procedures and terminology;
  • Proficient in computer operations;
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Maintain confidentiality and foster positive working relationships;
  • Accurate handling of money and change.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • May require lifting or moving up to 25 pounds;
  • Primarily office-based work with exposure to inside environmental conditions;
  • Requires mobility and physical reflexes to perform tasks in an office setting.
