We are currently seeking a Software and Controls Automation Engineering Manager to oversee our engineering teams and drive excellence in automation projects.

Position Summary

The Software and Controls Automation Engineering Manager will leverage their extensive knowledge in software and controls to enhance the capabilities of our engineering teams. This role is pivotal in ensuring that engineers are equipped with the necessary tools, methodologies, and standards to meet project objectives efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote the company's core values and mission through exemplary leadership and team engagement.
  • Assess team workload and collaborate with project leaders to optimize resource allocation.
  • Continuously refine development and testing protocols, engaging with team members to enhance processes.
  • Ensure clarity in project goals and facilitate the use of management tools to achieve timely and budget-compliant project completions.
  • Guide engineers in making informed architectural decisions tailored to project requirements.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration within and across teams.
  • Monitor and report on team performance and productivity metrics.
  • Organize, prioritize, and assign tasks to team members.
  • Verify that technical documentation and system specifications align with company standards.
  • Oversee daily operations and performance of engineering personnel.
  • Supervise the design and integration of automation and electrical systems to meet quality and innovation benchmarks.
  • Encourage collaboration with other departments, including project management and quality assurance.
  • Represent the organization with professionalism in all interactions with clients and stakeholders.
  • Evaluate team skills and implement development plans to support individual and collective growth.
  • Provide training on new methodologies, tools, and design strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of team labor for both internal and external projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline; experience in a manufacturing engineering context is advantageous.
  • Over 10 years of management experience in software and controls engineering (or equivalent).
  • At least 5 years of experience in controls, automation, and electrical systems design and integration.
  • 5+ years of experience in designing automation equipment.
  • Familiarity with machine programming systems and methodologies.
  • Proficient in managing software engineers utilizing various programming languages and data management systems.
  • Expertise in controls logic and SCADA telemetry protocols.
  • Experience with version control systems for software and controls.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Knowledge of relevant electrical safety regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Preferred experience in project engineering.
  • Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
  • Familiarity with Bill of Materials and MRP systems.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
  • Understanding of statistical analysis tools.
