The Health IT Division within the Leidos Digital Modernization Sector is in search of a Senior GCP Solutions Architect who possesses extensive knowledge and experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) technologies and architecture. This role is crucial in facilitating the cloud migration process for Federal Health clients, where the Senior GCP Solutions Architect will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud-based solutions on the GCP platform. The aim is to ensure a scalable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure that meets the operational needs of end users. Collaboration with SecDevOps teams, stakeholders, and GCP representatives will be essential to deliver innovative solutions that enhance cloud adoption.

Candidates must be located in the DC Metro area for onsite responsibilities and must be US Citizens or US Persons capable of obtaining a Public Trust Clearance. This position is dependent on contract award.

Key Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will have a profound understanding of GCP services, infrastructure components, security best practices, and architectural frameworks. Responsibilities include:

Cloud Architecture Design:

  1. Assist users in conceptualizing and designing comprehensive GCP solutions, offering guidance on resource allocation, scalability, high availability, disaster recovery, and performance optimization.
  2. Create and maintain detailed cloud architecture blueprints for enterprise applications and workloads.
  3. Assess and recommend the most appropriate GCP services and configurations for optimal performance and cost efficiency.
  4. Design scalable and resilient cloud solutions tailored to the specific requirements of workload owners.
  5. Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning and management utilizing infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as GCP Deployment Manager and Terraform.

Solution Implementation:

  1. Lead the deployment of cloud solutions, including migrating existing applications and developing new cloud-native applications.
  2. Provide insights on deployment strategies, automation, and monitoring during the implementation process.
  3. Configure and optimize GCP services while adhering to best practices and security standards.
  4. Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning and management using IaC tools.

Technical Guidance and Support:

  1. Deliver expert technical guidance to IT teams and stakeholders regarding GCP best practices, architectural patterns, and troubleshooting methods.
  2. Mentor and train junior cloud engineers on GCP technologies and solution design principles.
  3. Collaborate with GCP representatives to leverage their expertise and stay updated on the latest GCP offerings.
  4. Identify and resolve issues in existing GCP environments, analyze performance bottlenecks, and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  5. Provide expert advice on GCP-related topics, including cloud migration strategies, security hardening, compliance requirements, and system integration.

Performance Optimization:

  1. Monitor cloud performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies.
  2. Conduct regular reviews of cloud infrastructure and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  3. Ensure that cloud solutions are highly available, fault-tolerant, and resilient to disasters.

Security and Compliance:

  1. Design and implement cloud security measures to safeguard end user data and applications.
  2. Ensure compliance with relevant security standards, regulations, and policies.
  3. Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and mitigate potential risks.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with a minimum of 12+ years of experience in architecting and implementing GCP cloud solutions.
  2. Google Certified: GCP Solutions Architect Professional certification.
  3. Demonstrated success in managing large-scale, complex migrations involving multiple stakeholders.
  4. Experience with GCP cloud technologies and migration methodologies.
  5. Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools (Deployment Manager, Terraform) and configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
  6. Experience with GCP DevOps for CI/CD pipelines.
  7. Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless computing.
  8. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  9. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  10. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  11. ITIL Foundations certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. In-depth understanding of GCP services (Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Cloud Functions, etc.) and their integration.
  2. Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash) and experience with automation frameworks.
  3. Experience delivering IT services in support of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or within a biomedical research context.
  4. Possession of one or more of the following certifications: Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, PMI Project Management Professional (PMP).
