The Digital Modernization Sector within the Health IT Division at Leidos is in search of a Senior GCP Solutions Architect who possesses profound knowledge and experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) technologies and architectural frameworks. This role is crucial in guiding Federal Health clients through their cloud migration journey, focusing on the design, implementation, and optimization of cloud-based solutions on the GCP platform. The goal is to ensure a scalable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure that meets the needs of end users and operational requirements. The Senior GCP Solutions Architect will work collaboratively with SecDevOps teams, stakeholders, and GCP representatives to deliver innovative solutions that facilitate cloud adoption.

Key Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of GCP services, infrastructure components, security best practices, and architectural methodologies. Responsibilities include:

Cloud Architecture Design:

  1. Assist clients in conceptualizing and designing robust GCP solutions, offering guidance on resource allocation, scalability, high availability, disaster recovery, and performance enhancement.
  2. Create and maintain detailed cloud architecture blueprints for enterprise applications and workloads.
  3. Assess and recommend the most appropriate GCP services and configurations for optimal performance and cost efficiency.
  4. Design scalable and resilient cloud solutions tailored to the specific requirements of workload owners.
  5. Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning and management utilizing infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as GCP Deployment Manager and Terraform.

Solution Implementation:

  1. Lead the deployment of cloud solutions, including the migration of existing applications and the creation of new cloud-native applications.
  2. Support the implementation process by providing insights on deployment strategies, automation, and monitoring.
  3. Configure and optimize GCP services, ensuring compliance with best practices and security protocols.
  4. Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning and management through the use of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools.

Technical Guidance and Support:

  1. Offer expert technical guidance to IT teams and stakeholders regarding GCP best practices, architectural patterns, and troubleshooting methods.
  2. Mentor and train junior cloud engineers on GCP technologies and solution design principles.
  3. Collaborate with GCP representatives to leverage their expertise and stay updated on the latest GCP offerings.
  4. Identify and resolve issues within existing GCP environments, analyze performance bottlenecks, and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  5. Provide expert advice on GCP-related topics, including cloud migration strategies, security enhancements, compliance requirements, and system integration.

Performance Optimization:

  1. Monitor cloud performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies.
  2. Conduct regular evaluations of cloud infrastructure and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  3. Ensure that cloud solutions are highly available, fault-tolerant, and resilient to disasters.

Security and Compliance:

  1. Design and implement cloud security measures to safeguard end user data and applications.
  2. Ensure adherence to relevant security standards, regulations, and policies.
  3. Perform regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and mitigate potential risks.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with a minimum of 12 years of experience in architecting and implementing GCP cloud solutions.
  2. Google Certified: GCP Solutions Architect Professional certification.
  3. Demonstrated success in managing large-scale, complex migrations involving multiple stakeholders.
  4. Experience with GCP cloud technologies and migration methodologies.
  5. Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools (Deployment Manager, Terraform) and configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
  6. Experience with GCP DevOps for CI/CD pipelines.
  7. Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless computing.
  8. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  9. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  10. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  11. ITIL Foundations certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. In-depth understanding of GCP services (Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Cloud Functions, etc.) and their integration.
  2. Strong scripting abilities (Python, Bash) and experience with automation frameworks.
  3. Experience delivering IT services in support of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or within a biomedical research context.
  4. Possession of one or more of the following certifications: Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, PMI Project Management Professional (PMP).
