Head of Credit Risk Oversight

As a key member of the executive team, the Director of Credit Risk Management will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for the strategic direction and governance of the company's credit risk management practices. This role involves a comprehensive analysis, identification, and monitoring of risks associated with lending operations.
The successful candidate will:
- Formulate strategic assessments of credit risk that guide the development of review plans; assess various forecasting models, stress testing scenarios, and market trends to derive insights into performance deviations and credit trends.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of credit risk processes and standards, promoting best practices while identifying areas for enhancement. Provide recommendations to the Board of Directors and senior executives.
- Oversee the current expected credit losses (CECL) methodology to accurately estimate allowances for credit losses on delinquent loans.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations affecting the bank.
- Act as a liaison with regulatory bodies, facilitating effective communication and cooperation while assisting legal counsel on compliance matters.
- Analyze regulatory initiatives and their impacts on business processes, customer relations, and revenue, presenting actionable recommendations for alignment with business objectives.
- Offer expert guidance to loan officers on credit analysis, financial statement evaluations, and the management of overdue loans.
- Coordinate the communication of loan policies and procedures, ensuring adherence and addressing any deviations.
- Occasional on-site work may be required.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 10-12 years of experience in loan review, portfolio management, and quality control within a significant financial institution.
- Demonstrated analytical and forecasting capabilities, along with a thorough understanding of audit and compliance regulations.
- At least 8 years of managerial experience in executing a credit risk program that identifies enhancements and ensures regulatory compliance.
- Preferred experience in conducting regulatory examinations.
Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; capable of performing complex calculations and following detailed written instructions.
- Willingness to travel as necessary for work-related functions.
- Ability to work beyond standard hours to fulfill essential job responsibilities.
- Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs in an office environment.
