As a key member of the executive team, the Director of Credit Risk Management will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This role is pivotal in steering the strategic oversight and governance of the organization’s loan review and compliance risks associated with lending operations. The individual will ensure a proactive and risk-centric approach in conducting thorough audits and assessments of the Bank's loan portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate comprehensive credit risk evaluations that guide the development of credit risk review strategies; analyze various models for loss forecasting, portfolio stress testing, and market trends. Provide insights into performance deviations and anticipated credit trends, effectively communicating these to Senior Management.
  • Evaluate the efficiency of credit risk processes and standards, advocating for best practices and identifying areas for enhancement. Provide recommendations to the Board of Directors and Executives regarding necessary adjustments.
  • Oversee the management of current expected credit losses (CECL) to accurately estimate allowances for credit losses on overdue loans.
  • Implement strategies to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations.
  • Act as a liaison with regulatory bodies, facilitating effective communication and collaboration with various regulatory agents. Support the General Counsel on compliance-related inquiries.
  • Analyze regulatory initiatives and their implications on business processes, customer impacts, and risk exposure, presenting actionable recommendations for integrating regulatory requirements with business objectives.
  • Offer expert advice and support to loan officers, including conducting credit analyses, evaluating financial statements, and managing collections of overdue loans.
  • Coordinate the distribution of relevant loan policies, practices, and procedures, ensuring that any deviations are promptly addressed.
  • May involve occasional work at physical bank locations.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10-12 years of experience in loan review, loan portfolio management, and quality control within a significant financial institution.
  • Demonstrated analytical and forecasting capabilities, with a solid understanding of banking audit and compliance regulations.
  • At least 8 years of managerial experience in designing and executing a credit risk program that assesses, evaluates, and enhances policies and controls to safeguard assets and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Preferred experience in conducting regulatory bank examinations.

Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and MS Word; must possess strong mathematical skills and the ability to follow complex written instructions.
  • Willingness to travel to various locations for work-related purposes.
  • Ability to work beyond standard hours when necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs in an office environment.
