Job Description

Overview:

MV Transportation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee the day-to-day maintenance operations of our fixed route bus fleet. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all contractual requirements are met, and will have a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the maintenance personnel and ensure that all maintenance activities are performed in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and programs to ensure that all vehicles are properly maintained and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and control parts inventories, vendors, and suppliers to ensure that all necessary materials are available when needed.
  • Develop and manage budgets for maintenance programs and ensure that all expenses are properly accounted for.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff, including maintenance personnel, drivers, and management, to ensure that all maintenance activities are properly coordinated and executed.
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities are properly documented and recorded, and that all necessary reports are submitted in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of journey-level mechanic experience and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in maintenance supervision of five (5) or more mechanics.
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified for Transit Bus (H series) and Light Duty Hybrid/Electric Vehicles (L3).
  • Valid Class B or greater Washington State Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and Medical Card.
  • Previous passenger transportation experience in a similar environment preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage and interface with clients.
  • Ability to track and control parts inventories, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Ability to properly prioritize, implement, and manage work schedules, projects, and assignments.
  • Ability to manage the financial/accounting aspects of a fleet maintenance operation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff in written and oral formats.
  • Computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Technical competence with light/medium/heavy duty vehicle repair and preventive maintenance.
  • Ability to display initiative, professionalism, candor, and tact at all times.
  • ASE or manufacturer's certifications a plus.
  • Technical experience with fixed route transit bus maintenance.
  • Solid knowledge of managing audits, PM schedules.
  • Experience with Diesel, CNG, and Alternative fuels a plus.
  • Must have a CDL class B with passenger and airbrake endorsement.
