Job Summary:

MV Transportation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Fleet Maintenance to oversee the daily operations of our fleet maintenance program. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing a team of technicians and ensuring the maintenance of a large fleet of vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Manage a budget for the maintenance program and implement innovative preventive maintenance initiatives.
  • Monitor and control parts inventories, vendors, and suppliers, and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Develop and implement work schedules, projects, and assignments to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Manage the financial and accounting aspects of a fleet maintenance operation, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff, including unionized labor, to ensure smooth operations.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and other relevant laws and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in fixed route bus maintenance management.
  • Experience managing a team of 20+ employees, including fleet technicians, service workers, and cleaners.
  • Experience working with 100+ buses within the last year.
  • Experience working in the transit industry within the last year.
  • Previous experience in passenger transportation or a similar environment is preferred.
  • Strong technical competence in light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicle repair and preventive maintenance.
  • Ability to manage and interface with unionized labor.
  • ASE or manufacturer's certifications are a plus.
  • Technical experience with fixed route/coach transit bus maintenance is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High degree of multi-tasking skills.
  • CDL Class B with passenger and airbrake endorsement is required.
