Job Responsibilities

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a dedicated and experienced human resources professional to join our Office of Human Resources. This role is pivotal in delivering high-level HR services within a dynamic and fast-paced environment, catering to an agency with over 600 employees. Key areas of focus include:

  • Talent Acquisition: Manage the recruitment process, including preparing job postings, screening candidates, and coordinating interviews. Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Classification and Compensation: Conduct audits for position classifications and assist in developing Employee Work Profiles (EWPs) and Physical Demand Worksheets (PDWs). Perform salary analyses for both new hires and current employees.
  • Training and Development: Participate in the creation and delivery of training programs, and contribute to policy development and interpretation.
  • Travel Requirements: This position may require travel to various offices for training sessions and recruitment events.

Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Extensive knowledge of human resource management principles and relevant laws.
  • Proven experience in talent acquisition, classification, and compensation.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR information systems.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Additional Considerations

Preferred qualifications include:

  • A combination of education and experience in human resources or related fields.
  • Experience in state or local government HR practices.
  • Familiarity with state software systems.
  • Current professional HR certification.
