The Ann Arbor YMCA is on the lookout for dedicated aquatic safety supervisors. ROLE SUMMARY:

The aquatic safety supervisor is tasked with ensuring the well-being of all guests in and around the swimming area.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  1. Act as a role model for members and staff, embodying the mission, vision, and values of the YMCA.
  2. Consistently enforce aquatic safety rules and procedures.
  3. Maintain vigilant observation of the water and surrounding areas.
  4. Wear necessary safety equipment while on duty.
  5. Ensure cleanliness of the aquatic environment when not engaged in primary responsibilities.
  6. Document and report incidents as required.
  7. Keep certifications up to date.
  8. Understand and adhere to all safety protocols, including emergency procedures and equipment locations.
  9. Availability to work at least two weekend shifts each session.
  10. Promote inclusivity and the value of diversity within the organization and the community.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum age of 15 years.
  • Previous experience in lifeguarding is preferred.
  • Current certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, O2, and First Aid are mandatory.
  • Proficient swimming and safety skills are essential.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative spirit and demonstrate core values to staff and community members.
  • Positive interaction with pool patrons is crucial.
  • Professional demeanor, alertness, and tact are required.
  • Must be vigilant to identify potential hazards to ensure safety.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  1. Physically and mentally capable of responding to emergencies and administering CPR and First Aid effectively.
  2. Ability to see, hear, and communicate clearly.
  3. Capability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  4. Exposure to health risks associated with aquatic environments.
  5. Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds.
  6. Must maintain alertness for several hours at a time.
  7. Position may require various physical movements.
  8. Effective communication skills are necessary.
  9. Visual and auditory acuity to respond to critical situations swiftly.
COMPENSATION:

$16.45-$20.56/hour
