Financial Fund Specialist

We are looking for a Financial Fund Specialist to oversee and ensure adherence to the fund accounting, balance sheet management, and philanthropic funds processes within the institution.
Key Responsibilities
Coordination of:
- Oversee all types of funds to guarantee precise accounting and balance sheet management, particularly for philanthropic restricted funds.
- Provide guidance on fund allocation opportunities and analyze fund balances by source for expenditure possibilities.
- Supervise balance sheet fund reconciliations to prevent deficits across funds.
Application of:
- Utilize knowledge of institutional policies and GASB regulations regarding fund management.
Creation/Preparation/Development of:
- Generate financial statements and conduct balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, long-term planning, and scenario analysis as required.
Analysis/Interpretation of:
- Examine financial statements and fund performance to guide fund balance and allocation decisions, as well as prepare reports and analyses.
Management of:
- Direct the fund accounting, balance sheet management, and philanthropic funds processes.
- Prepare balance sheet fund reconciliations, manage fund maintenance, produce financial reports, and carry out analyses.
Problem Solving:
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies regarding fund management.
- Notify leadership of potential fund balance concerns and propose remediation strategies.
Critical Thinking:
- Identify spending opportunities and provide guidance on fund balance and allocation for leadership.
- Recommend and implement improvements to fund management and policies based on process knowledge and compliance considerations.
Training/Communication:
- Ensure that relevant stakeholders are informed about institutional policies and regulations concerning fund management.
Collaboration:
- Work in partnership with various departments, including Business Operations, FP&A, Faculty Practice, research teams, and University administration.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Commitment to the mission of the institution.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field with no experience OR a Bachelor's degree in an unrelated field with two years of progressively responsible related experience.
- Additional education (related Master's degree) may substitute for required experience if the Bachelor's degree is in an unrelated field, as permitted by the institution's equivalency formula.
- A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in financial and business operations, ideally within a large and complex organization.
- Demonstrated communication, organizational, and analytical skills in a multifaceted environment.
