About the Organization:

Our esteemed client is a charitable organization dedicated to supporting individuals facing challenges such as hunger, homelessness, and poverty. They are currently seeking a Grant Accountant to join their team on a long-term contractual basis.

Position Overview:

This role will be based in their office and will report directly to the Controller. The position requires full-time presence in the office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grant Oversight:
    • Prepare and submit all necessary documentation to governmental bodies to ensure accurate and timely monthly grant invoicing, maximizing grant reimbursements.
    • Collect contract expenditure reports from funding sources at the start of each grant cycle to facilitate prompt reporting.
    • Generate and regularly review grant spend-down analysis and accounts receivable aging reports, providing initial insights for management review.
    • Collaborate with Human Resources on salary allocations for personnel engaged in grant activities to ensure correct billing.
    • Maintain comprehensive records of security deposits, client rent payments, and reimbursements related to supportive housing initiatives.
    • Establish and uphold an organized filing system for all grant-related documentation, including agreements, payments, and financial statements.
    • Conduct research and prepare financial data and budgets for grant proposals in partnership with the Grant Development team.
  • Accounts Receivable Management:
    • Manage and process accounts receivable related to grants, ensuring real-time tracking updates.
    • Monitor outstanding receivables weekly and prepare corresponding reports.
    • Identify overdue accounts receivable and communicate directly with funders to resolve issues and secure payments.
  • General Ledger Management:
    • Prepare all journal entries associated with grants and accounts receivable.
    • Conduct grant analysis to identify funding gaps, opportunities, and spending rates.
    • Prepare budget modifications, allocation changes, and amendments to grant budgets.
    • Review all internal and external grant documentation to ensure compliance with regulations and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 1 year of accounting experience, or an Associate's degree with at least 3 years of experience, preferably in non-profit or grant accounting.
  • Proficient in Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions.
  • Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Comfortable with technology and capable of operating in a paperless environment.
  • Background checks and education verification are required.
  • COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory.
