We are looking for a Financial Fund Specialist to oversee and ensure adherence to the fund accounting, balance sheet management, and philanthropic funds processes within the institution.

Key Responsibilities

Coordination Tasks:

  • Oversee all types of funds to guarantee precise accounting and balance sheet management, including philanthropic restricted funds.
  • Provide guidance on fund allocation opportunities and assess fund balances by source for expenditure possibilities.
  • Supervise balance sheet fund reconciliations to prevent deficits across funds.

Application of Knowledge:

  • Utilize knowledge of institutional policies and GASB regulations regarding fund management.

Creation and Preparation:

  • Generate financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, long-term planning, and scenario analysis as required.

Analysis and Interpretation:

  • Examine financial statements and fund performance to guide fund balance and allocation decisions, including reconciliations, report preparation, and analysis.

Management Duties:

  • Administer the fund accounting, balance sheet management, and philanthropic funds processes.
  • Prepare balance sheet fund reconciliations, conduct funds maintenance, generate financial reports, and perform analyses.

Problem-Solving:

  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and policies related to fund management.
  • Notify leadership of potential fund balance concerns and propose remediation strategies.

Critical Thinking:

  • Identify spending opportunities and provide fund balance and allocation recommendations for leadership.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to fund management and policies based on process knowledge and compliance issues.

Training and Communication:

  • Ensure that relevant stakeholders are informed about institutional policies and regulations concerning fund management.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the Manager of Business Operations, FP&A colleagues, Faculty Practice colleagues, research teams, Department Directors, Administrators, and Staff, as well as the University Controller and other institutional colleagues.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field with no experience OR a Bachelor's degree in an unrelated field with two years of progressively responsible related experience.
  • Additional education (related Master's degree) may substitute for required experience if the Bachelor's degree is in an unrelated field, as permitted by the institution's equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in financial and business operations, preferably within a large and complex organization.
  • Demonstrated communication, organizational, and analytical skills in a complex organizational setting.
