Grant Financial Specialist Opportunity

About the Organization:

Our esteemed client is a dedicated non-profit organization focused on supporting individuals facing challenges such as hunger, homelessness, and poverty.

As a result of their ongoing expansion, they are seeking to onboard a Grant Financial Specialist on a long-term contractual arrangement to operate from their office.

This role reports directly to the Controller, who has been placed by Creative Financial Staffing.

Work Environment:

  • This position is fully in-office.
  • Complimentary street parking is available nearby.
  • Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 5 PM.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grant Oversight:
    • Prepare and submit all necessary documentation to governmental bodies to guarantee prompt and precise monthly grant invoicing, while maximizing grant reimbursements.
    • Collect contract expenditure reports from funding sources at the commencement of each grant cycle to ensure timely reporting.
    • Generate and routinely present grant spend-down analysis and accounts receivable aging reports, providing preliminary insights for supervisory and senior management review.
    • Collaborate with Human Resources on salary allocations for personnel engaged in grant activities to ensure accurate billing.
    • Maintain comprehensive records regarding security deposits, client rent payments, and reimbursements from housing authorities for supportive housing initiatives.
    • Establish and uphold an organized filing system for grant-related documentation, including agreements, payments, and financial statements.
    • Conduct research and prepare financial data and budgets for grant proposals in partnership with the Grant Development team.
  • Accounts Receivable Oversight:
    • Manage and process accounts receivable related to grants, ensuring real-time tracking updates.
    • Monitor outstanding receivables weekly and generate accounts receivable reports.
    • Identify overdue accounts receivable exceeding 60 days and engage with funders through direct communication to resolve issues and secure payments.
  • General Ledger Management:
    • Responsible for preparing all journal entries associated with grants and accounts receivable.
    • Conduct grant analysis as necessary to identify funding gaps, opportunities, and spend-down rates.
    • Prepare budget modifications, allocation changes, and amendments to grant budgets.
    • Review all internal and external grant documentation to ensure compliance with regulations and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 1 year of accounting experience, or an Associate's degree with at least 3 years of experience, preferably in non-profit or grant accounting.
  • Proficient in Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions.
  • Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Technologically adept, comfortable in a paperless work environment.
  • Must successfully pass a background check and educational verification.
  • COVID-19 vaccination is required.
