Position Overview

As a Process Engineer at Westlake, you will spearhead cutting-edge manufacturing initiatives aimed at enhancing safety, productivity, and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Research & Development and Manufacturing to utilize structured processes for launching new products and innovative concepts.
  • Support capital equipment budgeting and specifications to refine existing production methods and introduce new products.
  • Engage with a skilled, cross-functional team to expand your expertise in the field.
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders to strategically plan and develop new products while addressing various production challenges.
  • Utilize statistical software to analyze data and present findings in an accessible manner.
  • Assist in the development and testing of new material compounds to achieve productivity and business goals.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in production processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize product quality.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with suppliers to stay informed about advancements in machinery and raw materials.
  • Participate in the development and testing of projects related to various manufacturing processes.
  • Calculate costs associated with formulations and materials for management review.
  • Attend industry trade shows and training sessions to keep skills current and learn about new technologies and processes.
  • May represent the company in industry association meetings.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and environmental regulations at all levels.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, or Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in process engineering, preferably in polymer injection molding and extrusion.
  • Familiarity with polymer chemistry, manufacturing, testing, and analysis.
  • Six Sigma certification and knowledge of methodologies such as DOE, DMAIC, and FMEA are preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficient in organizing data, managing tasks, and demonstrating leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical instructions and manage various variables.
  • Skilled in defining problems, collecting data, and building consensus among diverse teams.
  • Proven project management and communication skills to drive impactful technical projects.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to foster collaborative relationships.

Physical and Work Environment

This role requires regular sitting, standing, and walking, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. The work environment may include moderate noise levels in the office and higher noise levels in manufacturing facilities. Personal protective equipment may be necessary when working in certain areas.
