POSITION SUMMARY

The Material Handling Specialist is responsible for operating lift trucks to facilitate the movement of materials throughout various departments. This role is essential in ensuring that production processes run smoothly by transporting moulding, boxes, and U-racks as required. A valid lift truck driver's license is a prerequisite for this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Efficiently transport moulding, boxes, and U-racks between work areas as necessary.
  • Load moulding onto print, emboss, and packing lines based on the priorities outlined in the scheduling documentation.
  • Deliver cartons to the designated staging area for carton assembly.
  • Transfer moulding to the tape machine and picture frame wrapping lines.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on the forklift to ensure optimal performance.
  • Uphold quality standards in all tasks performed.
  • Adhere to established safety protocols and company policies.
  • Foster positive working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and management.
  • Maintain consistent attendance in line with company guidelines.
  • Execute additional tasks as assigned by supervisors or leads.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Educational Background
  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required, along with six to twelve months of relevant experience or training, or a suitable combination of education and experience.
  • Experience
  • Proficiency in basic arithmetic operations and the ability to interpret data presented in various formats.
  • Skills
  • Capability to read and understand simple instructions and correspondence, as well as to communicate effectively in small group settings.
  • Communication Skills
  • Adept at following detailed instructions and addressing issues that may arise in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to manipulate objects, and reach with arms. The employee frequently communicates verbally and may occasionally need to stand or walk. Regular lifting and/or moving of up to 25 pounds is required, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

While executing the responsibilities of this role, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical components and may be exposed to various environmental factors. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate to loud, necessitating the use of eye and hearing protection when operating lift trucks. Hand protection may also be required.
