Job Overview

The Lean Engineer will be responsible for providing technical and project leadership to the Cleveland manufacturing site. This role will lead the development of cost improvement and CAPEX programs based on business needs, ensuring alignment with Vesuvius Corporate expectations to prevent problems and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and lead all major plant projects and CAPEX programs, ensuring timely completion and budget adherence.
  • Report monthly to management on CAPEX project status and costs, providing actionable insights for informed decision-making.
  • Participate in new product/process reviews, including risk assessments, safe work procedures, job hazard analysis, and physical demand analysis, to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Manage and lead continuous improvement projects, mentoring and coaching team members to drive process excellence.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools and methodology to implement manufacturing excellence initiatives, reducing waste and improving quality.
  • Manage a portfolio of lean projects, focusing on measurable quality, service, and cost improvements, and implementing tools such as 5S, KPI, SMED, VSM, and Kaizen.
  • Train and lead continuous improvement teams, focusing on measurable quality, service, and cost improvements.
  • Train, coach, and motivate personnel in the understanding and adoption of new principles and techniques, driving cultural change and process improvement.
  • Drive the standardization of processes and the implementation of metrics and best practices, ensuring consistency and efficiency across the organization.
  • Assist in setting annual operational targets and help drive improvements to achieve those targets, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
