ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Founded by renowned NBA champions, the organization is dedicated to promoting children's health through research, awareness, and evidence-based initiatives. The focus is on reducing childhood obesity by integrating physical activity, healthy eating, sleep, and emotional wellness into children's lives. By engaging families and educators, the organization implements programs that foster healthy habits and knowledge in children.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to:
  • Global Executive Director
  • President and Board of Directors
We seek a dynamic leader to ensure the growth and sustainability of the organization in the United States, leveraging insights from international operations. You will possess a diverse skill set to guide our team and advance the organization’s primary objectives: programming for children and families, scientific research, and raising awareness in alignment with our mission.

The team operates from a central office, with programming extending across various locations and plans for further expansion.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising
  • Formulate and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to ensure long-term sustainability aligned with the organization's mission and objectives.
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities by developing strategies to engage potential donors, preparing tailored proposals, and managing fundraising documentation.
  • Oversee the execution and evaluation of fundraising campaigns and events, ensuring objectives are met.
  • Maintain and cultivate relationships with current and prospective partners, donors, and collaborators, fostering a culture of philanthropy.
Strategy & Management
  • Establish the organization’s goals and strategies, including the development and execution of annual plans based on our operational model.
  • Build new partnerships and ensure ongoing support.
  • Provide leadership and coordination to the team, promoting professional development and fostering team cohesion.
  • Ensure alignment of activities in the U.S. with the Strategic Plan.
  • Represent the organization in the community, advocating for its vision and programs at various events to enhance awareness and support.
  • Engage with local officials to promote the organization’s evidence-based approach as a public health priority.
  • Enhance the organization’s visibility through effective communication strategies.
Programs and Research
  • Supervise the U.S. Program and Research Director to ensure successful implementation of programs and research initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the U.S. Programs and Research Director to forge partnerships that support program and research goals.
Financial Management & Operations
  • In collaboration with the Global Chief of Operations, design the annual budget for Board approval and manage resources in compliance with regulations.
  • Oversee the coordination of operations, ensuring responsiveness to internal and external needs.
  • Manage human resources, including recruitment and staff supervision, in accordance with established policies and regulations.
Board of Directors and Advisory Board
  • Present strategic and annual plans, along with the budget, to the Board for approval.
  • Maintain accountability to the Board for achieving established goals and executing plans.
  • Encourage active participation of Board members in committees to ensure effective governance.
REQUIREMENTS
  • 5 to 7 years of executive leadership experience in a nonprofit organization.
  • Extensive experience in fundraising.
  • Ability to build and maintain high-level relationships.
  • Flexibility to collaborate across time zones.
  • Experience in leading strategic planning processes.
  • Passion for health and wellness, particularly in relation to childhood obesity and nutrition.
  • Familiarity with the landscape of youth nonprofits and potential donors.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is required.
