We assist in identifying optimal locations tailored to specific needs, providing essential demographic insights, site maps, and additional resources to facilitate informed decision-making. LEDC is committed to crafting strategies and assembling incentive packages that enhance the region's favorable business environment and quality of life, while also encouraging local businesses to grow, thereby generating new employment opportunities and long-term investments.

Role Overview:

The Chief Executive Officer will oversee and guide this non-profit organization, ensuring all operations are executed efficiently to foster sustainable growth in Livingston Parish. The CEO will lead efforts in business retention and recruitment, focusing on attracting qualified enterprises to the area by leveraging local, state, and federal incentives and resources tailored to each prospective business. The CEO will report directly to the LEDC Board of Directors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct economic development initiatives aimed at job creation and capital investment in Livingston Parish, including business retention, expansion, attraction, and support for small and entrepreneurial ventures.
  • Oversee the financial management of the organization, including budgeting, balance sheet oversight, and profit & loss analysis.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with regional economic development entities, Louisiana Economic Development, local government officials, and other stakeholders.
  • Supervise administrative personnel.
  • Manage and develop LEDC-owned properties.
  • Facilitate the development of additional private industrial sites.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with site selectors and business location specialists.
  • Lead fundraising efforts for Livingston Tomorrow campaigns and initiatives.
  • Engage in recruitment of new LEDC members and foster ongoing membership involvement.
  • Develop workforce solutions and maintain existing partnerships while establishing new connections to enhance workforce development.
  • Promote Livingston Parish as an attractive business destination through marketing materials and representation at trade shows and business events.
  • Prepare and present an annual report to the membership.
  • Engage in public speaking engagements.

Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in economic and/or community development.
  • A degree in business, economics, public administration, geography, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Evidence of ongoing education in economic and community development topics.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with public and private grant programs for economic development and experience in managing such grants.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; experience with GIS-based applications is a plus.
  • Knowledge of state and federal financial incentive programs available to businesses, along with an understanding of local government operations and services for business development.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with high-level corporate and government officials while maintaining confidentiality.
  • The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and possess a track record of driving business initiatives through influence.
