SALARY: $125,000/year

LOCATION: Remote with occasional in-person engagements

HOURS: Flexible work schedule

ABOUT GASOL FOUNDATION

Founded by NBA All-Stars Pau and Marc Gasol, the Gasol Foundation employs evidence-based strategies, research, and advocacy to promote children's health, focusing on the reduction of childhood obesity. Their initiatives incorporate physical activity, nutrition, sleep, and emotional health to foster children's overall development. The Foundation's programs, which also extend to Spain, engage families and educators to cultivate healthy habits and knowledge among children.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to:

Functional reporting: Global Executive Director

Hierarchical reporting: President and the Board of Directors.

The selected candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the development, sustainability, and expansion of the Gasol Foundation in the United States, leveraging insights from Gasol Foundation Europe. The ideal leader will possess a diverse skill set to guide the team and advance the organization's primary initiatives: programming for children and families, scientific research, and advocacy aligned with the Foundation's mission.

The team operates from a central office, with programming conducted across various locations and plans for growth into additional regions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising

  • Design and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to ensure financial sustainability in line with the organization's mission and objectives.
  • Identify and engage potential funders through strategic outreach, proposal development, and diligent record-keeping.
  • Oversee the execution and assessment of fundraising campaigns and events, ensuring that established goals are achieved.
  • Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective partners, donors, and collaborators, fostering a culture of philanthropy.

Strategy & Management

  • Establish the organization's goals and strategic direction, including the creation and execution of annual operational plans.
  • Develop new partnerships and supporters to ensure long-term sustainability.
  • Provide guidance and coordination to the team, promoting professional development and team cohesion.
  • Ensure alignment of U.S. activities with the Strategic Plan.
  • Represent the Gasol Foundation in the community, advocating for its vision and programs at various events to enhance awareness and support.
  • Engage with local officials to promote the Foundation's evidence-based approach as a priority in public health.
  • Enhance the Foundation's visibility through effective communication strategies.

Programs and Research

  • Supervise the U.S. Program and Research Director to ensure successful implementation of programs and research initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the U.S. Programs and Research Director to forge partnerships that support program and research goals.

Financial Management & Operations

In collaboration with the Global Chief of Operations:

  • Develop the annual budget for Board approval and manage resources in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Oversee the coordination of operations, ensuring responsiveness to internal and external needs.
  • Manage human resources, including recruitment and staff supervision, in accordance with established policies and regulations.

Board of Directors and Advisory Board

  • Present the strategic plan and annual operational plans, along with the budget, to the Board for approval.
  • Maintain accountability to the Board for achieving established goals and executing annual plans.
  • Encourage active participation of Board members in Committees and Task Forces to ensure effective governance.
  • Support the Board in fulfilling its governance responsibilities.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in a leadership role within a nonprofit organization.
  • Demonstrated success in major fundraising from corporations and foundations.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain high-level relationships.
  • Flexibility to collaborate across time zones as part of a global team.
  • Experience in leading strategic planning initiatives.
  • Passion for health and wellness, particularly regarding childhood obesity, nutrition, and physical activity.
  • Familiarity with the landscape of youth-focused nonprofits and potential donors.
  • Proficiency in Spanish, both written and spoken.
