EHS Compliance Manager

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing safety and environmental risks within the organization. This position collaborates closely with the Director of EHS to execute comprehensive initiatives aimed at ensuring compliance with EHS regulations and promoting sustainability practices.

Key Responsibilities

· Design and implement organization-wide safety protocols and EHS communication strategies, including educational materials.

· Organize, facilitate, and provide EHS training in accordance with regulatory requirements and site-specific needs.

· Coordinate both internal and external EHS audits, documenting findings and ensuring that identified issues are addressed promptly.

· Contribute to the development of corporate sustainability initiatives, including the collection and analysis of data on various sustainability topics relevant to the business.

· Offer guidance on EHS programs to employees and supervisors to foster a unified and effective approach.

· Assist in investigating accidents and incidents, implementing corrective measures as necessary.

· Monitor adherence to safety protocols and ensure that safety data sheets are up-to-date and accessible.

· Maintain accurate records related to training, permits, and regulatory compliance.

· Promote safe working practices and reinforce established safety policies and procedures.

· Participate as a member or chair in safety committees or councils.

· Support organizational growth and development through:

  • Air quality permitting
  • Sustainability, recycling, and waste reduction initiatives
  • Addressing regulatory concerns
  • Managing safety equipment

· Stay informed about industry regulatory developments.

· Engage in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.

· Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

· Strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to manage multiple projects effectively and prioritize tasks.

· Familiarity with federal and state regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT standards.

· Relevant safety certifications (e.g., ASP, OHST, STS) are advantageous.

Education

A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, or a related discipline is preferred.

Experience

A minimum of five years of experience in a manufacturing setting, focusing on environmental and safety compliance.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to stand and walk throughout the manufacturing facility for inspections and other activities.

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Capability to lift items weighing up to 25 pounds.
