The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing safety and environmental risks within the organization. This position collaborates closely with the Director of EHS to execute comprehensive initiatives focused on EHS compliance and sustainable practices.
Key Responsibilities
· Design and implement company-wide safety protocols and procedures, along with relevant EHS communications and educational materials.
· Organize, facilitate, and provide EHS training in accordance with regulatory requirements and site-specific needs.
· Coordinate both internal and external EHS audits, ensuring documentation is completed and deficiencies are addressed promptly.
· Assist in the development of corporate sustainability initiatives, including data collection and research on various sustainability topics affecting the business.
· Offer guidance on EHS programs to employees and supervisors to ensure a unified and effective approach.
· Participate in investigations of accidents and incidents, implementing corrective measures as necessary.
· Oversee adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
· Ensure that safety data sheets are properly maintained and easily accessible.
· Keep thorough documentation related to training records, logs, and regulatory compliance.
· Uphold safe working practices and reinforce the company's safety policies and procedures.
· Act as a member or chair of safety committees and councils.
· Support the company's growth and expansion through:
- Air quality permitting
- Sustainability, recycling, and waste reduction initiatives
- Regulatory compliance
- Safety equipment management
· Stay informed on industry regulatory developments.
· Engage in professional development and training opportunities.
· Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge & Skills
· Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
· Capability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
· Familiarity with federal and state regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT guidelines.
· Relevant safety certifications (e.g., ASP, OHST, STS) are advantageous.
Educational Background
A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, or a related discipline is preferred.
Experience
A minimum of five years of experience in a manufacturing setting, focusing on environmental and safety compliance.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand and walk throughout the manufacturing facility for audits and inspections.
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Capability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
