EHS Compliance Manager

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing safety and environmental risks within the workplace. This position collaborates closely with the Director of EHS to execute company-wide strategies focused on EHS compliance and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs and procedures, along with related EHS communications and educational materials.
• Prepare, coordinate, and conduct EHS training sessions as mandated by regulations and site-specific needs.
• Facilitate both internal and external EHS inspections, documenting findings and ensuring that any deficiencies are addressed and rectified.
• Assist in establishing corporate-wide sustainability initiatives, including data collection and research on various sustainability topics that affect the organization.
• Provide direction and support on EHS programs at the employee and supervisor levels to ensure a unified and effective approach.
• Aid in the investigation of accidents and incidents, implementing corrective measures as necessary.
• Monitor adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
• Ensure that safety data sheets are maintained and easily accessible when required.
• Keep thorough documentation (training records, logs, etc.) related to permits and regulatory obligations.
• Promote safe working practices and reinforce the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures established by the organization.
• Serve as a Chair or member on safety committees or councils.
• Support organizational growth and expansion through:
- Air permitting
- Sustainability, Recycling, and Waste Minimization initiatives
- Regulatory compliance
- Safety equipment management
• Stay informed on industry regulatory developments.
• Engage in professional development and training opportunities.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
• Capacity to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Familiarity with federal and state regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
• Safety certifications (e.g., ASP, OHST, STS, etc.) are advantageous.
Education
A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, or a related field is preferred.
Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing setting, focusing on environmental and safety compliance.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand and walk throughout the manufacturing facility for audits and other requirements.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be capable of lifting up to 25 pounds at a time.
