Job Description

Overview

Tarana Wireless is a leading provider of innovative wireless solutions, and we're seeking a highly skilled Senior Component Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our hardware development team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing electronic components to support our new product design and supply chain demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • BOM Scrubbing: Identify and address obsolescence, lead time issues, product enhancements, and cost reduction activities.
  • Supplier Management: Review PCNs, Manufacturing Change Notifications, and supplier risk evaluations, as well as conduct supplier audits.
  • Lifecycle Management: Monitor, identify, and resolve lifecycle issues, and assist the supply chain management team in identifying substitutes for electric, electronic, and electro-mechanical components.
  • Component Sourcing: Find alternate parts from different suppliers with exact form, fit, and function, and perform like-for-like analysis and technical specification comparison studies.
  • Design Analysis: Conduct like-to-like analysis during part changes, power, derating, tolerance, thermal analysis, signal integrity, DFM, DFA, DFT, and EMC studies.
  • Compliance Management: Maintain REACH/RoHS compliance status on all components and system-level assemblies.
  • Impact and Risk Analysis: Perform detailed impact and risk analyses, and feasibility testing.
  • Component Level Testing: Perform component-level, subassembly module, and system-level integration and design verification testing to qualify proposed alternates.
  • Test Report Creation: Create and analyze test reports based on results from test execution.
  • Change Management: Create change initiation documents, implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), update PLM systems, and perform design transfers.
  • Supplier Coordination: Coordinate with different suppliers and test labs.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent field with 5 to 12 years of relevant experience.
  • Hardware Test Equipment: Experience with hardware test equipment, such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and oscilloscopes.
  • Wireless Networks: Knowledge of wireless networks and products.
  • Failure Analysis: Conduct failure analysis and perform root cause analysis for failed units from the field.
  • ECO Creation: Ability to create ECOs, deviations, and other documents in Arena BOM management environments.
