Position Overview:

The Director of Private Equity Accounting will oversee teams dedicated to transaction processing, ensuring the accurate application of accounting principles to intricate transactions, and delivering financial reports for private equity fund clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee multiple fund relationships, ensuring timely scheduling and delivery of client obligations.
  • Manage client expectations and coordinate timelines for deliverables with team members.
  • Exhibit comprehensive knowledge of accounting, particularly regarding alternative investment funds, with an emphasis on private equity.
  • Engage in discussions with prospective and existing clients regarding new business opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain performance goals and career development plans for direct reports.
  • Conduct semiannual performance evaluations and discussions for team members.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to staff on client service-related matters.
  • Review fund governing documents and ensure compliance with fund terms.
  • Analyze transaction documentation and supporting materials to understand investment features and accruals.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of work paper files, including capital and investment activities.
  • Evaluate management fee calculations and investor allocations.
  • Review capital call and distribution calculations, including cash sources and uses.
  • Develop and maintain distribution waterfall models in accordance with fund terms.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, notes disclosures, and supporting schedules.
  • Establish robust review procedures for deliverables.
  • Coordinate the year-end audit process with clients and auditors.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
  • Over 10 years of accounting experience, with a focus on alternative investment funds; private equity experience is advantageous.
  • CPA designation is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience supervising multiple professional staff members.
  • Experience in hiring and termination decisions, along with providing ongoing performance feedback.
  • Hands-on management approach with strong leadership capabilities and a focus on staff development.
  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with FIS Investran is a plus.
  • A collaborative team player.

Compensation:
Salary is determined by various factors, including relevant work experience, job-related knowledge, skills, abilities, business needs, and geographic regions.

Salary Range:
New York: $160,000 - $200,000
California: $125,000 - $190,000
