Executive Sous Chef at Safta

Pomegranate Hospitality is on the lookout for a skilled and dedicated Executive Sous Chef to guide our vibrant team at Safta, a distinguished modern Israeli restaurant recognized by the James Beard Foundation and led by Chef Alon Shaya. In this pivotal role, you will be essential in maintaining Safta's culinary standards while managing key leadership and operational duties.
As the Executive Sous Chef, you will collaborate closely with the Chef de Cuisine, contributing to the restaurant's culinary excellence and operational achievements. Your responsibilities will include overseeing kitchen functions, fostering the growth of the culinary team, and ensuring top-notch food quality and execution. Additionally, you will have the unique chance to work alongside the service team to craft an exceptional dining experience that reflects our core values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work in tandem with the Chef de Cuisine and culinary team to design and implement innovative and delicious menu items that align with Safta's culinary philosophy.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate the culinary team, cultivating a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and learning.
- Take an active role in the creation and execution of new menu items and seasonal specials, focusing on the use of local and seasonal ingredients.
- Maintain and enforce high standards of cleanliness, organization, and food safety in the kitchen, serving as a role model for the team.
- Manage inventory, ordering, and cost control to enhance kitchen operations and ensure financial efficiency.
- Promote open communication, positivity, and collaboration within the kitchen environment.
- Serve as a role model for the team, embodying the values and culture of Pomegranate Hospitality daily.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated success in a leadership position, such as an Executive Sous Chef or similar, ideally in a high-volume restaurant setting.
- Extensive culinary expertise covering various cooking techniques, flavor profiles, and creative presentation.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, mentor, and delegate effectively.
- Exceptional organizational abilities and proficiency in managing time-sensitive tasks and priorities.
- Meticulous attention to detail, coupled with a commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards.
- Thorough understanding of health and safety regulations, ensuring strict compliance within the kitchen.
- Experience in food costing, inventory management, and the overall operation of a busy kitchen.
- Creative passion for the culinary arts, demonstrated through your work.
