Position Overview:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) plays a crucial and strategic role at Northwest Center (NWC), reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and collaborating closely with the Board of Directors. This leadership position is essential for driving our strategic growth initiatives, overseeing capital investments, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to optimize resources to meet NWC's strategic goals, attract and retain exceptional talent, and establish a strong financial framework.

Compensation: $137,205,766.00

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Communication:

  • Forge strong relationships with division leaders, front-line staff, the Executive team, the Board, and key external stakeholders, including donors and corporate advisors.
  • Provide guidance in navigating complex strategic transitions such as mergers, acquisitions, and strategic alliances.

Team Management & Development:

  • Directly supervise the Controller and oversee the broader accounting and finance teams.
  • Develop an organizational and staffing strategy to support ongoing growth across various business and mission segments.
  • Attract, nurture, and retain talent to build a robust financial infrastructure.

Financial Strategy & Operations:

  • Manage both short and long-term capital structures to finance the organization's strategy, sustain growth, and monitor the company's cost of capital.
  • Oversee cash and liquidity management concerning working capital requirements and invest surplus cash effectively.
  • Ensure operational excellence in financial systems and reporting.
  • Translate long-term strategies into actionable, motivating, and measurable objectives.
  • Engage in strategic planning, growth initiatives, and financial forecasting.

Risk & Compliance Management:

  • Identify, mitigate, and monitor business risks, integrating risk management processes into operational management.
  • Oversee additional activities such as managing legal documents, real estate procurement, and lease negotiations.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree (required); Advanced Degree preferred
  • CPA or equivalent; CMA preferred

Experience:

  • 15 – 20 years of experience in Accounting with progressively more complex management roles, including experience as a CFO

Demonstrable Skills:

  • Exceptional communication skills suitable for engaging with the Board, Executive Team, managers, and staff.
  • Experience in diverse business environments and continuous process improvements that enhance efficiency.
  • Proven ability to build cohesive, high-performing teams.
  • Strong leadership in financial administration with a comprehensive understanding of financial accounting systems, audits, budgeting, financial forecasting, and GAAP accounting.
  • Ability to operate at both granular and strategic levels.
  • Commitment to developing long-term models that support new initiatives and innovative growth.
  • Demonstrated passion for the mission of Northwest Center and dedication to staff development and personal growth.
