Operations Manager for Foam Manufacturing

Foamcraft, Inc., a well-established family-owned manufacturing enterprise, is in search of an experienced and proactive leader to take on the role of Operations Manager at our foam fabrication facility. This position is pivotal in addressing the complexities of a dynamic, custom-order manufacturing landscape, where quick problem-solving is essential. The ideal candidate will embody a blend of empathy and excellence, ensuring operational success while fostering a supportive workplace culture.

Under the guidance of the Director of Manufacturing and supported by a dedicated Leadership Team, the Operations Manager will oversee the allocation of resources to Production Supervisors and staff, driving the achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly production goals. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Team Development - Leads and nurtures Production Supervisors and plant personnel, emphasizing team growth, retention, and a positive culture. Collaborates with HR to implement leadership initiatives and enhance workforce engagement.
  2. Operational Efficiency - Prioritizes productivity, material yield, and labor effectiveness while managing product lines and inventory. Works closely with the Director of Finance and Director of Manufacturing to analyze performance reports, track progress, and ensure financial success.
  3. Quality Assurance - Ensures the delivery of high-quality products through established Quality Control Procedures (QCPs), including inspections of incoming and outgoing products, managing non-conformance, and executing corrective measures to mitigate returns.
  4. Client Relations - Develops and maintains relationships with customers as appropriate, partnering with Distribution Sales Managers to deliver outstanding service and guarantee timely and complete shipments.
  5. Facility and Equipment Oversight - Maintains optimal operation of machinery and fleet, upholds high standards of cleanliness and security across all facilities, and provides guidance to the Maintenance team while supporting the Preventive Maintenance program.
  6. Workplace Safety - Collaborates with the Leadership Team to implement and uphold the Foamcraft Safety Program, leading safety committee meetings, enforcing safety protocols, and training staff on safety regulations.
  7. Design and Production Management - Responsible for executing design and production processes at the facility level, overseeing CAD operations, prototyping, production, and quality assurance while supporting the local Design and Development team.

Qualified candidates should possess a bachelor's degree and have a background in manufacturing management, complemented by strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with manufacturing software. A solid understanding of manufacturing best practices such as Lean methodologies, 5S, Continuous Improvement, Quality Systems, and Root Cause Analysis is essential. Experience with CNC machinery, CAD, cost accounting, and financial analysis within a manufacturing context is preferred. Building and maintaining customer relationships is also a crucial aspect of this role.
