Position Overview: Plant Finance Business Partner

The Plant Finance Business Partner plays a crucial role in supporting the Plant Management team by providing strategic financial guidance and oversight. This position collaborates with various business areas to facilitate the delivery of services to Business Unit Leaders. The Plant Finance Business Partner is instrumental in accurately forecasting financial outcomes, promoting data-driven decision-making, and collaborating on proposals and special projects. Responsibilities include conducting financial reporting and forecasting analyses in areas such as profit planning, cost management, capital investments, and more. The role emphasizes a thorough understanding of financial performance drivers and trends, enabling the formulation of recommendations based on comprehensive financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Business Partnership
  • Act as a leader in critical business functions.
  • Effectively communicate financial outcomes to non-financial stakeholders while fostering interdepartmental collaboration.
  • Facilitate strategic and tactical initiatives that align with business objectives.
  • Support and challenge business decisions to ensure alignment with corporate strategy and asset optimization.
  • Drive improvements in operational results and efficiency.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations regarding historical and future financial performance to business leadership.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships across functions and regions.
  • Respond promptly to stakeholder inquiries.
  • Share expertise to enhance financial management processes.
  • Deliver financial, operational, and strategic insights organization-wide.
  • Encourage a communicative environment that fosters innovative thinking and commitment to process improvement.
  • Act as a catalyst for initiatives critical to strategic delivery.
Forecasting and Planning
  • Establish forecasting and planning processes to ensure key inputs are considered.
  • Assist Business Unit leadership in the annual budgeting cycle and achieving operational targets.
  • Collaborate with peers across business units to enhance finance routines and processes.
  • Conduct additional financial analyses and reporting as required.
Operating Budget Support and Performance Management
  • Provide analytical support for the development of Base Budget assumptions, including volume, gross revenue, and expense inflation rates, while integrating organizational objectives for cost savings and new initiatives.
  • Participate actively in month-end financial closing activities.
  • Assist Shared Services and Corporate Accounting in estimating appropriate accruals.
  • Prepare detailed analyses of operational and financial data, including trend analysis and monitoring of key financial metrics.
  • Engage with leaders to guide the development and monitoring of remediation and corrective action plans.
  • Support analytics for Labor and Non-Labor Benchmarking activities.
  • Assist Business Leadership in cost management initiatives.
  • Participate in a variety of client-based meetings for organizational exposure.
Compliance and Performance Improvement
  • Guide Business Leaders in understanding and adopting finance policies, guidelines, and standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with corporate finance policies and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Contribute to performance improvement initiatives that enhance Business Unit operational and financial performance.
  • Educate staff on financial concepts and applications, contributing to the development of financial management capabilities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (Finance or Accounting preferred).
  • MBA with a focus in Finance is preferred.
  • 5 - 8 years of relevant finance experience, including extensive experience with financial statement analysis and a solid understanding of corporate finance concepts.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, customer service orientation, and timely follow-through.
  • Ability to engage with business leaders outside of finance and comfort in presenting to senior organizational leaders.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues.
  • Strategic thinking, leadership, and influencing capabilities.
  • High energy and self-motivated individual.
  • Proven ability to cultivate strong business partner relationships and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Capable of being a self-starter in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment.
  • Strong computer proficiency.
