Job Title: Assistant Principal - Culture

About the Role:

The Academy of Visual and Performing Arts is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Assistant Principal - Culture to join our team. As a key member of our school leadership, you will play a vital role in shaping the culture and well-being of our students, staff, and community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of evidence-based strategies for school culture and well-being programming, including mindfulness practices, community building, emotional intelligence, and positive behavior intervention processes.
  • Provide leadership on matters relating to attendance, school culture, and student management, analyzing trends to inform proactive strategies.
  • Design and deliver professional development opportunities for staff on evidence-based strategies for physical, psychological, social, and economic well-being and school culture programs.
  • Oversee the performance of staff, including counselors, licensed social workers, elective teachers, and paraprofessionals, ensuring high standards of instructional and operational excellence.
  • Assist in planning daily school activities, including master schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activities.
  • Ensure effective two-way communication with the principal, staff, students, parents, and community, fostering collegiality and team building among staff members.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree in Educational Leadership preferred.
  • Principal certification preferred; Certified T-TESS appraiser, preferred.
  • Three (3) years of teaching experience.
  • Experience implementing and monitoring emotional intelligence, social-emotional learning, PBIS, restorative practices initiatives, programs, and activities.
  • Results-proven track record of exceeding goals, with a high level of business acumen and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project and time management skills, with the ability to effectively backward plan, juggle multiple priorities, and deliver consistent and timely results.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a persuasive and enthusiastic communicator who can lead, influence, and hold others accountable to high standards of organizational excellence.
  • Strong learning orientation and desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Successful criminal background check results required.
