The Medical-Surgical Care Unit is a dynamic 28-bed telemetry unit, equipped to handle 9-10 stepdown ICU beds. Our focus is on delivering exceptional care to adults facing both chronic and acute health challenges, often with complex comorbidities and varied social circumstances. The Clinical Coordinator plays a vital role in facilitating patient flow and coordinating communication within the nursing unit during assigned shifts. This position serves as a key resource and leader for patients, staff, healthcare providers, and administration. The Clinical Coordinator ensures that patient care is delivered efficiently, compassionately, and courteously.

Licensure and Certification Requirements:
- Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible compact state
- AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent

Experience:
Required:
- Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience
- Charge Nurse or supervisory experience

Preferred:
- Experience in an Academic Health Care setting
- Familiarity with similar patient populations in acute care environments

Education:
Required:
- Diploma or Associate's Degree from an accredited nursing program
- Registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing must enroll in an approved RN to BSN program within two years of hire and complete it within five years.

Preferred:
- Certification in a specialty area
- Completion of a Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Nursing from an accredited institution

Independent Actions Required:
- Adhere to documented physician orders and practice within the regulations governing nursing in Virginia.
- Follow the ANA Code of Ethics for Nursing and established national nursing practice standards.
- Organize and plan work with input from patients and families, demonstrating sound clinical judgment and resource utilization.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Organize work and supervise others (RNs, LPNs, Care Partners, Unit Secretaries, etc.) in executing assignments.

Additional Position Requirements:
- Clinical Coordinators will work designated shifts, including weekends and holidays as required by the unit.
- Shift rotations and schedules may be adjusted to meet clinical care area needs.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and assist patients as necessary.

Mental/Sensory Requirements:
- Strong recall, reasoning, problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

Emotional Requirements:
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to frequent changes.
