Job Overview:

As an Assistant Maitre'D with Crew Life at Sea, you will be instrumental in facilitating seamless dining experiences aboard our cruise ship. Your role will involve supporting the Maitre'D in managing the dining area, supervising restaurant personnel, and ensuring outstanding service for our guests. Your expertise in leadership, organization, and attention to detail will enhance the culinary journey for all onboard.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Dining Room Management:
    • Assist the Maitre'D in overseeing all facets of dining room operations.
    • Ensure proper setup of the dining area, including table arrangements, decor, and overall atmosphere.
    • Manage seating plans, table assignments, and reservation systems.
    • Monitor guest flow to guarantee efficient seating and service.
  2. Exceptional Guest Service:
    • Deliver personalized and attentive service, catering to guest preferences and needs.
    • Welcome guests, guide them to their tables, and assist with seating logistics.
    • Address guest inquiries, requests, and concerns promptly and professionally.
    • Work closely with the Maitre'D to resolve any guest-related issues.
  3. Team Leadership:
    • Support the Maitre'D in supervising restaurant staff, including servers, bus staff, and hosts/hostesses.
    • Train and guide new team members to uphold service standards.
    • Evaluate staff performance, providing constructive feedback and addressing any issues.
    • Assist in developing staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage during service hours.
  4. Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure adherence to service protocols and standards, maintaining consistency and quality.
    • Oversee cleanliness and hygiene in the dining area and service zones.
    • Conduct regular checks of tables, linens, and overall presentation to meet quality expectations.
    • Collaborate with the culinary team for timely and accurate food service.
  5. Event Coordination and VIP Services:
    • Assist in planning and executing special events and themed dining experiences.
    • Work with the Maitre'D and culinary staff to accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences.
    • Provide specialized service for VIP guests, ensuring their expectations are exceeded.
    • Help organize and manage private dining events and functions.
  6. Administrative Responsibilities:
    • Maintain accurate records, including reservation logs and guest preferences.
    • Collaborate with the Maitre'D and management on menu planning and updates.
    • Prepare reports on dining operations, guest satisfaction, and staff performance.
    • Assist in managing inventory, ensuring restaurant supplies are adequately stocked.
Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in a supervisory capacity, ideally as a Head Waiter, Assistant Maitre'D, or in a similar role within a fine dining environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Customer-oriented approach with a commitment to exceptional service.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and thrive in a fast-paced setting.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Multilingual proficiency is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with wine and beverage service is a plus.
