Role Summary

The Host/Hostess serves as the initial and final point of contact for guests, responsible for welcoming, seating, and bidding farewell to patrons while ensuring a smooth operational flow within the dining establishment. This role includes managing reservations via phone, accurately relaying messages, and returning calls in a professional manner.

It is essential for the Host/Hostess to maintain a courteous, friendly demeanor and present a polished appearance at all times. They should be adept at recognizing regular guests, recalling their preferred seating arrangements, and accommodating any specific requests. Awareness of reservation schedules and identification of VIP guests is crucial for providing exceptional service.

Compliance with all safety and security protocols is mandatory; any incidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions must be reported to management. The Host/Hostess is expected to uphold the confidentiality of proprietary information and safeguard company assets. Greeting and acknowledging all guests in accordance with company standards is vital. Effective communication using professional language is required, as well as proper telephone etiquette.

Building and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues is important to achieve common objectives. The Host/Hostess must ensure adherence to quality standards and expectations. The role may involve standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods, as well as lifting and moving objects weighing up to 10 pounds without assistance. Additional reasonable duties may be assigned by Supervisors.
